1. Do your best to attend the precinct conventions on March 8

The Libertarian Party of Travis County will hold precinct conventions on Tuesday evening, March 8. Time and location are not finalized.

Keep your eye on the Austin Liberator (this newsletter), the website, and Facebook page.

If you wish to participate in the convention process for the Libertarian Party, DO NOT vote in the Democratic or Republican primaries.

If you reside in a county other than Travis, contact your county party to learn the details of their conventions.

From the Libertarian Party of Texas:

Who can participate in precinct conventions? Only those people registered to vote in a precinct who have not voted in the primaries or participated in the convention of another party are eligible to participate in that precinct’s convention.

If I can’t be at the precinct convention, are proxy voting or absentee ballots allowed? Absentee ballots are not permitted. If you are unable to attend the precinct convention but someone else in your precinct will be there, you can request that they elect you as a delegate to the county convention. If you are unable to attend the county convention, you could request to be nominated as a delegate to the state convention.

Can someone who isn’t able to attend the precinct convention become a delegate to the county convention? The only way a person who isn’t in attendance at the precinct convention can become a delegate to county convention is if there is someone else from their precinct in attendance and they are nominated as a delegate from their precinct. This means if no one from a precinct is in attendance on the day of precinct conventions, that precinct will have no delegates at county convention.”

9. What is a libertarian?

Some say libertarians are "plotting to take over the world and leave you alone."

Watch this entertaining 10-minute animation on "The Philosophy of Liberty." (English version) (Other languages)

Tomasz Kaye has created three excellent animations, "George ought to help" (4 min.), "Edgar the Exploiter" (7 min.), and "You can always leave" (11.5 min.).

Here is a 7-minute video, "What is Classical Liberalism?" from Learn Liberty.

Take this short (10 question) online quiz from the Advocates for Self-Government to see if you might have libertarian leanings: “The World’s Smallest Political Quiz.
