LPTravis Treasurer, Jonathan Patschke, is running for Travis County Appraisal District, to be one of three individuals responsible for property tax assessments and other related matters.
HIs election is on SATURDAY May 4, 2024. Please make an effort to vote for him that day.
Jonathan Patschke is a candidate for the Travis Central Appraisal
District, Place 2. He is lifelong resident of Texas, has worked in Travis
County for over 20 years, and has lived within the county for nearly
half that long. He studied computer science at Rice University in
Houston, spent two years in cost-reduction efforts at what is now the
Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation,
and has worked at Austin-area startups for over 15 years.
Jonathan would like to see an improvement to the consistency and
accuracy of the property valuation process at TCAD. He observes that
several law offices in the area provide the valuable service of reducing
homeowners' taxes due to inaccurate property valuations. When property
taxes are unfairly levied, taxing districts have poor information for
budgeting, and residents may find that they can no longer afford to live
in their communities.
His goals are to, within the limited scope of the TCAD Board of
Directors, encourage TCAD to explore new sources of data and new
technologies to ensure that property valuations are sufficiently
accurate as to preempt any challenge, so that property owners do not
need an attorney to avoid overpaying property tax.
