1. “When government runs the schools, every decision is based on politics.”

From Ted Brown, who is seeking the Libertarian nomination for Texas House, District 50 (eastern Travis County):

“I am a strong supporter of school choice. If the recent pandemic has shown us anything, it has shown parents that they need alternatives to the creaky, inefficient government school system. This article from the Texas Public Policy Foundation discusses a proposal for current tax funds to go to parents, rather than school districts, so that parents can take the funds and find the best school for their kids -- public or private. Given our current system, this is much preferable to kids being forced to go to a school based only on their zip code of residence, no matter how bad the school might be.

“As a Libertarian, I would prefer that other alternatives be considered…”

3. Texas Cannabis Policy Conference, March 4-6

From Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy:

“Our annual Texas Cannabis Policy Conference will be hosted in-person at Texas A&M University, allowing for meaningful connections between attendees, presenters, and sponsors.

“Speakers will include legislators, regulators, attorneys, healthcare professionals, researchers, academics, veterans, patients, and other advocates. Presentations and panel discussions will cover an array of topics relating to cannabis and public policy.
