1. Tippetts update: I need your help

From Mark Tippetts, Libertarian for Governor, June 9:

“Our remaining Rights, Freedoms, and Liberties are once again being threatened and taken away and I am doing my best to fight back, but I need your help.

“I just returned from the Libertarian National Convention in Reno. What I saw was over a thousand people passionately arguing, debating, sometimes laughing, and sometimes even yelling -- all trying to answer the question ‘what is the best way to promote liberty?’

“I don't claim to be the world's expert on promoting liberty. I often say that there's no wrong way, as long as you're trying, there are only wrong reasons.

“Over the past couple of years, our liberties have been under attack due to the coronavirus outbreak, with Republicans and Democrats spending ridiculous amounts of money we don't have, causing inflation, and violating our rights.

“After shutting down businesses and mandating other actions, Governor Abbot now claims he's against mandates--perhaps he learned something from Libertarians…”

3. Adam Smith’s 299th Birthday Happy Hour, June 16

From Austin Reasonoids:

“He hasn't hit the big three-oh-oh yet, but Adam Smith is getting up there. And yet he's still far more than a marginal figure in economic and moral thought. So, as a warm-up to next year's jollity, let's put a pin in the factory tour and toast David Hume's bestie at a venue more suited to the sentiment.

“The last Reasonoids event at The Driskill was 18 months ago so, even though the name "Driskill" is Irish and not Scottish, I'll bet Dr. Smith would forgive us for gathering there…”

7. What is a libertarian?

Some say libertarians are "plotting to take over the world and leave you alone."

This 2-minute video from Learn Liberty tells "Free Will and Human Dignity: A Love Story."

"The Conversation" is a 13-minute dramatization from the Foundation for Harmony and Prosperity.

Read this short commentary from Leonard E. Read (written in 1955): "In an ideal America."

Take this short (10 question) online quiz from the Advocates for Self-Government to see if you might have libertarian leanings: “The World’s Smallest Political Quiz.
