Apologies, I had formatted this to make it a little easier to read but

Notes from ACAG first meeting August 16, 2011
Attended by:
Austin Free-Net – Juanita Budd
CAN – Chantel Bottoms
Open Austin – Jace Deloney
CCET – Chip Rosenthal
MAIN.Org – Gene Crick
Austin Neighborhood Council – Carol Lee
LBJ School – Sherri R Greenberg
Chamber of Commerce – Beverly Kerr
Group’s interests/focus -
Open Austin is interested in more open efficient government...data
interests.
CAN - research analyst interested in data portal and representing
vulnerable populations in the community. Language translation.
Main.org - public and free access - using technology to bring people
together....to increase efficiency. Working together and
collaboration. “Web should be about more than online shopping.”
Austin Free-net - accurate and easy to find information
Community Technology and Telecommunications - Wanting to avoid
previous project pitfalls - wanting to be sure the community doesn't
get left behind for web 2.0 hipsters. Site needs to serve the needs of
the whole community.
Austin Chamber of Commerce - Research works on city website most days
- daily walks people through the city website to find things they are
looking for
Ideas/needs for the new site –
Sherri – Wants financial information on more than just FASD site
Gene – Wants there to be information that serve non-Internet users
needs that library personnel can access and assist the non-user
MAIN wants to increase the number of neighborhood association they
host. They would like for us to promote the opportunity to the NAs
Carol - What role do Neighborhood Associations have on what content
will be on the site?
Gene – Want to be involved on efforts of online emergency
notifications
Chantal – Asked about translation of content into multiple languages.
Carol – Concerned that we are in rapid development mode is not
conducive to ACAG input through meetings only on a once per quarter
schedule
Jace – wants to set up the Google Group – send him e-mail addresses
Chip – Also concerned with limitations of quarterly meeting schedule,
he wants to be closer to the development. Set up a terminal that they
could book time to log on and review site.
Gene – can we sell sponsorships to help with budget constraints
