We are just 1 week away from BB/BS AustinCats/AYC Take a Kid Sailing Day at Windy Point 2025, a generations-old multihull tradition. BB/BS is participating in full capacity and AustinCats/AYC is as well. Central Texas sailors seem eager to sail & party so we urge you to join us at Bob Wentz at Windy Point Park for BB/BS AustinCats/AYC Take a Kid Sailing Day 2024. We cannot do it without the support of the fleets, and we intend to re-double our efforts to remind everyone.
We've received the enthusiastic backing & confirmation from Travis County Parks & Wildlife that Windy Point will be available/open/free to participants. I'll distribute the Windy Point free entry flyer and preferred locations for BB/BS landing/loading/launching as soon as we get better intelligence on water level & expected wind conditions.
As always, we are fully approved and planning for the after-party at AYC after a full day of sailing August 2, 2025. It's Brigitte & my 13th anniversary together, for crying out loud; and we owe it all to the sailing community! Through AYC we can offer hot showers, clean bathrooms & locker rooms (perhaps even an air-conditioned cabin for camping), ice-cold beer, our famous Matagorda Island seafood and chicken gumbo, Caribbean jerk chicken, black beans, rice, salad, and plenty of those famous frozen Bushwhackers and Cuba Libres; not to mention fellow sailors and civic-minded yet adventurous BB/BS volunteers & staff.
We're planning on setting up catamarans, launching trimarans at AYC starting around noon Friday beforehand. Text me if you need the guest gate code or have something/someone you'd like to add to the party!
I'll add more details in future editions but please sign your name to the list (good or bad)...
Thanks!
