March for Babies 2011

Hi all, I know there are so many demands on your time and your wallet -- I'll only tap your wallet!  But here I am again, in my annual request for sponsorship for March for Babies.  As you know, it's a remendous cause -- the work the March of Diems does to fund research to to find the causes of prematurity and infant mortality is critical.  But did you also know that the March of Dimes funds special efforts to support families who have experienced premature birth?  The birth of a preemie baby is unbelievably challenging for families: mothers who are recovering from pregnancy and often stressful births may end up spending long hours in the Neonatal ICU and pumping breastmilk.  Some mothers who work outside the home have minimal leave and have to go back to work before they even get to bring their baby home from the hospital. Fathers spend timeat the NICU while also coping with work and other family needs.  Siblings who have been so excited about the arrival of a new brother or sister are often confused, worried and sometimes feeling left out. The March of Dimes addresses all of this by providing information, activities and events for families to help them better understand what the new baby faces and to cope with the stress.
