Austin Bicycling received a report a few minutes ago about new bike lane painting on Mesa that mentions "reflective material which didn't adhere to the paint [and] makes a fine dust which is hard to ride on."
These are glass beads, which are extremely hazardous for cyclists. More information about this risk is in an online article titled "Bike Accidents and Road Striping".
The report has been relayed to the staff of the City of Austin Bicyle Pedestrian Program.
