Petition to President Bush (Please do NOT let this petition stop and
lose all these names. [If you do not want to sign it, would you please
forward it to everyone you know anyway. ) Thank you!!!

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION BELOW TO PRESIDENT BUSH AND PASS THIS ON

UNTIL THERE ARE 800 NAMES, THEN SEND TO: mailto: Pres...@whitehouse.gov

To add your name to the bottom, click on "forward." You will be able
to add your name to the list and then forward it to your friends. Or, if you
prefer, you can copy and paste, and then add your name to the bottom of the
list (and then it won’t have all those little >>> that are so darn annoying).

Dear President Bush:

Many of us were deeply touched to hear you recite a portion of Psalm
23 in your address to this great nation in the dark hours following the
terrorists attacks. We were encouraged and comforted to know that we truly
had a believer working with us and for us in our nation's highest office.

We, the people of America, are requesting that you lift the prohibition of
prayer in schools. As the pledge of our great country states, we are to be
"One nation, under God." Please allow the prayers and petitions of our
children in schools without the threat of punishment. Today, adults and
children in the schools are prohibited from mentioning God unless of course
His name is uttered as part of a curse or profanity. Madeline Murray O'Hare
is dead. Let her legacy of atheism in our schools die with her!

Sincerely,

We The People of the United States of America

Mark 10:13-14 "People were bringing little children to Jesus to have
Him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, He was
indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not
hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

PETITION TO REINSTATE PRAYER IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Only an AOL'er would be stupid enough to think this would do any good; and
only an inbred, bible thumping Alabamian would know 600 comes after 590.

Not to mention that prayer in schools is already legal. Students are free
to pray at any time they want, as often as they want, as long as it doesn't
disrupt regular school activities.

Only prayer that is organized and led by school officials is prohibited.

BULLSHIT! There is no prohibition against prayer in public school. Any
student/teacher/janitor is free to pray at any time. The prayers of the people may
be audible What is prohibited is officially led, state sanctioned prayer that
violates the rights of non Christians to be free of Christian prayer... Jews,
Buddists, Muslims, American Indians, and atheists. Why would you trample their
rights?

Why is it people like you don't follow the teachings of Jesus when it comes to
prayer?

Matthew 6:1 Beware of practicing you piety before men in order to be seen by them;
for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 6:5 And when you pray, don't be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray
standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. l tell
you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your
Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will
reward you.

If you'd pay attention, you'd see that Jesus prayed in private

Matthew 14:23: Jesus went up on the mountain by himself to pray.

Matthew 26:36-44: Jesus went with three disciples, left them behind and went
further to pray alone. This is the well known passage in which his disciples fell
asleep at Gethsemane, just before Jesus' arrest and execution.

Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left
the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Luke 6:12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent
the night praying to God.

Luke 9:18 Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him,
he asked them, "Who do the crowds say I am?"

Luke 22:41-43: Jesus withdrew from his disciples "about a stone's throw" to pray by
himself

PS: This nation was NOT founded on a Christian principles. The Constitution
specifically states (Article VI):

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several
state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United
States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support
this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification
to any office or public trust under the United States.

Because my newsreaders count of the number of lines, wasn't jiving with
the number of signatures - so I was curious and started scrolling. There's
another whole gap of 175 earlier in the sequence, too. Making it seem
as if there's more 'signatures' than there really are.

That might actually fool Bush and his advisors, but not me. Nosireee.
