Dear Friend and Fellow Taxpayer,

When my neighborhood took over the running of its own Municipal Utility
District from the developers who built our community, Canyon Creek, we
discovered that we were facing "double taxation." We were being taxed by
the M.U.D. and by the City of Austin for the same thing, a clear
violation of the Texas Water Code.

Don Zimmerman and I realized that the only way to fight this was to run
for a position on the M.U.D. Board, and petition the other branches of
government for redress (correction of this situation). We both won our
seats in an election, with Don becoming President of the NW Austin #1
M.U.D.

Under his proactive leadership, we asked, pleaded, and begged the City of
Austin to stop this multiplicity of taxation. They refused. Don lead
the effort to slash M.U.D. taxes, and we cut taxes for 4 years in a row -
and service improved. We sued the City of Austin, and our case has been
heard. We expect a decision shortly.

We fought hard for taxpayers, and I am utterly convinced that Don
Zimmerman is "the taxpayers best friend." Unlike most politicians, Don
knows its "your money, not mine" and he is acutely aware of what it took
for you to earn your money - the hard work, the sacrifices you've made.
When you pay taxes, Don knows you expect fiscal responsibility, and that
its not just a slogan.

Please join me in supporting Don Zimmerman for State Representative for
District 50 in the election on March 7, 2006.

He's the best individual for the job.

Your neighbor, a voter, taxpayer, and citizen,

Alan R. Weiss

What's his stance on term limits (or self-imposed limits)?

I'm sure it's just like every *other* politician -- all for
(self-imposed) term limits until he gets into office. At which point
"there's just so much work to be done, I can't do it in x terms!"

I'm sorry, I just ran out of time
and formulated a quick answer, which
is just ask Don. He answers his
email.

Secondly, I don't know his position
on this issue.

As for being a good friend of his, I am
despite my complete opposition to his
stance on Prop 2.

I am loyal to my friends, and any one issue
isn't enough to end a friendship!
