- He puts down callers, but without any cleverness or wit.
- He bleats ON AND ON about the same issue over and over again, just to hear
his own voice
- He has the DUMBEST topics. While Rome burns, Jeff Ward talks about his
asscrack lint.
- He has so many commercials that when you call in, you're put on hold - and
never told how long you will wait. On a cell phone, it adds up. Meanwhile
he whines on and on himself.
Write KLBJ and tell them Jeff Ward sucks. Get a real radio host in there,
nevermind their politics. Ward may be
pseudo-libertarian/pseudo-conservative, but he's an IDIOT.

Sounds like it, not me, but others probably.

Yep, he's "one of us" (TM).

Well, consider his audience. He has most folks captive during the drive
time, which in Austin averages what, 20 minutes, maybe 25? So if he
repeats himself every half hour, everyone can hear and add to the same
topic.

Pop culture. Not my cup 'o tea, but takes folks minds off of the
traffic.

Welcome to talk radio. Use AT&T and call #590, no charge for the call.

Well, Paul Pryor goes to jail every time he gets on the air, his Dad
can't string sentences together sensibly any more, and everyone that
they've had sit in for Jeff (read "audition for that time slot") is a
hell of a lot worse.

Yes, but he's far less annoying, far less stupid, and far less repetitive
than "Sgt. Sam" Cox.
I can't stand to listen to KLBJ-AM in the morning. Very little news, just
talk, talk, talk. I'd listen to the other news station (1260 AM), but the
signal is so bad in the morning I can't get it on MoPac. I can get it in
the afternoon, but listening to Paul Pryor's show is like watching a really
bad cable access program. It's a train wreck every fifteen seconds.
I listen to WOAI-1200 AM out of San Antonio or KTRH-740AM out of Houston,
both of which you can hear in the Austin area. Much more news, and much
less opinionated blathering.

If KTRH is better than what you have up there, you have a real problem, because
acutally, KTRH sucks, too... way too many commercials, and repetitive,
repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive... did I mention
repetitive?
So he disagrees with you, eh?
I happen to really like his show. He is far less arrogant than most
talk show hosts and although I don't always agree with him, he is
very entertaining. I miss Jimmy the Neck though. He was truly
amusing.

KJCE at 1370 has some alternatives also. Ward has gotten just wierd
lately. I also can't stand his 1st 30 minutes. He'll take one topic
and just repeat it and repeat it and repeat it.
I miss Paul Pryor. Although Cactus gets on my last fucking nerve. He's a
babbling old cowboy poet, or some shit. Reminiscing about some romantic
visions of the little house on the prairie....men in chaps...
Very few people actually know what the hell he's taking about half the time.
I think he's banging Ladybird Johnson, that's why he's still on.
I miss Howard Stern. I miss Don & Mike. I miss Gordon G. Liddy.
Those fucking ads on KLBJ are the worst. I dive for the off switch every
time I hear that goddamned Chris Strand yapping with his mother Caroline.
What a wooden, lifeless script reader she is. Once, they did some ads with
his father. What an abortion! Old man Strand sounds like a drunken Dutchman-
totally incoherent. They ran the shit out of them ads though.
And that announcer Eileen Pace, she sounds all drunk and slushy when she
talks. Where the hell do they find their voice talent?
Ed Clemmons- how many more fucking times do we have to hear about howwwwww
much he lovvvvvvvves barbeque, and just howwwwwwwww much he lovvvvvvvvves
playing golf. I have a sneaking suspicion that he's sucked a few dicks in
his days. He defiantly has some weird feminine side that creeps out
sometimes.
I think he's secretly dating Patrick Tampon-y or something!
Sgt. Sam- what a fucking inbred dickhead. The voice of the KKK."Gawddamn
Eddie! Dem dare boys need dem a flamin necklace! An I juss the one ta give
it to em too! Yehaw!" Old Sam, and old Cactus need to move to a fucking REAL
Texas town. They got real mutant, inbred, goat ropin', yahoo personalities.
Jeff Ward? He has his moments. Few moments. He is running on empty these
days. I'd guess he's a pretty miserable guy in his personal life. He's got
some pent up hostility issues.

Speaking of Cactus, does anyone have any idea what he mumbles at the end of
his monologue each morning right after saying his name? Sounds something
like "thermos rockamortimer"
BTW, if you think Jeff is dumb, you've never listened to the morning crew.
I typically tune in for the 9am news and then go back to listening to
books-on-MP3CD but sometimes my timing is off and i catch cactus and the 3
stooges. My god, they really are the saddest excuse for entertainment,
information, you name it that I've ever heard on talk radio.

That sums it up just fine for me!
He's just an ol' ex-jock with the mindset to match. He never lets us forget
it, too - just in case the couple hundred thousand Austinites who moved here
in the last few years ask "I never heard of this guy... what did HE do to
rate a radio talk show?" To listen to his occasional gem of libertarian
wisdom, I gotta wade through his routine bashing of women, gays, kids,
anyone who doesn't work out, and then hours and hours of incessant sports
talk in what is ostensibly *not* a sports show.
As for the pent-up hostility issues, I'd have to agree. It always seems to
me like he's yelling into his microphone with one blood vessel on the side
of his neck throbbing like it's gonna bust. One or two more cups of coffee
and he'd be Alex Jones.
It's been a while since I listened to talk-radio, but back in the day,
callers were generally on the poor side of slack-jawed, redneck yokels.
One could find "discussions" of greater merit in a beer-joint or a
feed-store.

That's it - repetition over and over and ....
Thermastrocamortimer. Faux Latin, IMO. Don't know the origin, I'll ask
around.
And I have spoken with his wife, she's a very sweet lady. Guess I don't

You really think he bashes these people? It seems that he's critical
of them as they attempt to be a protected class or when a group from
among them attempts to force radical equality upon us all (women
trying to shoehorn their way onto the membership rolls of all male
golf clubs, etc).
Having said that, he does grate on my nerves, because he rarely has a
upbeat show, and he often drones on in a negative, excessively cynical
manner that would make even the reverend Shuller of the Crystal
Cathedral depressed*.
As someone else indicated, I like the Liddy show. Liddy has an
impressive intellect, and has the benefit of a first-rate private
education and a lifetime of experiences in and around Washington DC
that provide an excellent base base for storytelling and political
philosophy.

I wouldn't consider anything he says to be contraversial - he is actually
really tame and boring - and repetitive.
Definitely not controversial - just boring and repetitive. What's worse, he
sees every call coming - if you don't tell the screener exactly what you're
going to say (in extreme detail), the screener won't let you on the air. My
only hope is that a few callers will simply lie to the screener about what
they want to talk about, get on the air, and throw Jeff a few curveballs.
I've called a few talk shows in my lifetime, and while screeners generally
want to know what you're going to say while on the air, Ward's screener is
the most demanding.

Yeah, AM-1370 has been a relief from the Jeff Bored Show.
Jeff Ward repeats himself a dozen times saying the same damn thing over and
over again in a repetitive manner using the same basic words just phrased in
a different way, um, over and over again, while reminding you that he's said
the same thing a number of times, etc. etc.
