I'm building a new house that will be ready in March/April of next year.

In the next few months I need to give the builder details on where I want
major landscape elements such as the back patio, major landscaping beds, any
lot grading required, etc...

I'm looking for a landscape designer who can help us figure out the best
strategy for our back yard, mainly defining the basic flow. Can anyone
recommend anyone who provides consulting on an hourly basis? I'm mainly
looing for someone to help us on the positioning and flow of the major
elements.. I'll probably do most of the execution work(planting, any walls,
etc.) on my own over time.

Great to see someone thinking ahead of their builder. What an exciting
opportunity.

Check out "Native Texas Gardens : Maximum Beauty, Minimum Upkeep" by Sally
& Andy Wasowski for a list of landscapers. The book also talks about the
"building envelope", and how to minimize damage by construction crews to
your existing soil and plants.

Jill Nokes did the wonderful landscape at the entrance of Garden-Ville. You
can get in touch with her through Garden-Ville.
