Hi - apologies for the delay in updates - I've been pretty sick the
last couple of weeks. I was also trying to wait for a reply from
someone at UT about a location that I was referred to but he hasn't
replied in weeks now so I have removed that location from the list.

Here's what I am thinking for a proposal so we can move ahead and get
the meetup rolling -- feedback is appreciated.

Initial Date - August 3 or September 7
-- we would meet once a month - it seems like a number of the meetups
in Austin take off for the summer so I would like some feedback
regarding whether we should start in Aug or Sep. If we do Aug, we have
2 full months to get the word out and start to build buzz and a
startup demo list for the first few meetups.

Initial Location: we would start at one of the following and would
look to book through the end of 2011.
-- Tech Ranch
-- Microsoft
-- Link Coworking

Initial agenda:
-- 4 demos (5 minutes product demo plus 3-5 minutes QA from audience)
-- 15-20 minute presentation

Networking location:
-- this will vary based on which location selected above - if we use
Link, we could do the networking on their patio

Thanks,
Allen

September 7th is definitely a no-go. That is the day of Capitol Factory Demo day and there will most likely be an event afterwards.

Good find Jacqueline - after thinking about this last night - here are
a couple thoughts that I hope we can discuss:

1. there will always be conflicts - do we decide each month if another
event has a higher visibility than the ATM and therefore move the date
or just stick with the x of the month and go from there?

2. I believe Joshua said he was interested in helping promote the ATM
- I am wondering if Sept 7th would actually be a great day to start -
we could offer one of his startups a slot at the meetup, and I know he
brings in people from other locations for the demo day and I am sure
we could get some of those people to attend the ATM and spread the
word - perhaps one of those people (say Dave McClure) could be the
first presenter?

We could even see about tying in our networking slot with theirs -
could be great for both groups as startups want visibility which the
demo day attendees can provide and demo day companies want visibility
which the ATM could provide as well.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Allen

That might work. I am actually meeting with Josh on the 27th to talk about organizing some additional events around Demo Day, so this might be an option. Because people will have sat through demo pitches all day, I thought it might be a little much. I know that I will probably be Demo'ed out and tired of sitting since the entire event runs from 8:30-3:30 with networking following. BUT last year it seemed to be a lot of people from out of town and not as many of our locals, mainly because it is during the day. Just some food for thought.

Would you like to talk to Josh on the 27th or should I contact him? I
don't really know him except for meeting him a few years ago regarding
OtherInbox.

I was supposed to attend the demo day last summer but it was the day I
arrived into Austin so I had to pass. Since lots of non-Austin people
will be here, I think it could be a great way to showcase some of the
local startups at our premiere event and also perhaps have a
presentation from one of the SV'ers.

We would want to get the plan out to Demo Day attendees asap because
some might be flying back out in the evening so maybe we can talk them
into staying overnight.
