Take a guided tour of the Sinatra framework to build fast, lightweight REST-based web APIs. We'll look at the key features of Sinatra, how it extends Rack to make API development easier, and how to get the most out of Sinatra.

Then we'll look at some useful Rubygems that you may have never heard of but will make your Sinatra-based API even better.

Finally, if time allows we'll deploy a Sinatra-based API to a Raspberry Pi using Docker (because why not?).

About James: James Higginbotham is an API consultant who has been using Ruby, Rails, and Sinatra to build web and mobile APIs since 2005. He has published several books and travels across North America to train product teams to build beautiful APIs that developers will love.

This month only we are moving the meeting to the second monday on account of the Labor Day Holiday and are meeting at Atlassian.

Good News: Atlassian will be providing pizza and drinks so we'll start at 6:30pm.
