FYI confirmed the test drive will be on the P85 model, rated to go 0-60 in 4.2s. For those who aren't aware, it is currently a rare opportunity to test drive one of these in Texas due to legislation preventing Tesla to sell their vehicles here.

I can't wait to find out for myself why CR gave it a 99 out 100.

Plus it costs $0.06 to make a ¼ mile run at drag strip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=d82NP89O_ZQ

This one has run a 12.3s @ 110.8 mph ¼ mile.

I'm curious how they are going to talk around making a sales pitch, since "legally" they can't. I think you should expect to hear some very odd language and phrasing.

I know a few of you have already done the drives.  Here were my first impressions and some new revelations for me:

- the car is scary fast for its size.
- while only about 30min long, it was by far one of the most fun test drives I've done w/someone sitting next to me.  Very rarely do they say, "at the next stop sign, floor it and get to 0-60 as fast as you can."  We did that about 5 times.
- the integrated gps uses google maps, not some janky in-car maps software. It updates the maps realtime using a built-in 3G subscription to the car (the same way it gets software updates from Tesla). This also has two effects of being able to find your car w/your phone and big brother is always tracking where you're going.  Some users have reported the maps not updating in areas with spotty 3G (hilly areas in California for instance) so that kind of sucks if you're going somewhere rural where you need maps and can't get them. They are working on a fix to cache maps locally.
- the car is very quiet, but the motors are not completely silent, especially when you gun it.  You can hear the distinct electrical whir as they start spinning.
- you can close the rear trunk from inside the car in case you left it open (but not the front trunk).
- using the regenerative braking, I rarely even had to use the actual brake pedal except to come to a complete stop at a light. This will greatly improve the wear and tear on the brake system. They call this "one pedal driving" as you effectively accel/decel with just one pedal. There are currently two settings for how invasive you want the regen braking to be (standard or low).
- no sales pressure at all. The only question sales related was if I had placed an order for one yet. The rest of the time we spent going over features and driving.
- AC and climate control is On as soon as you step in the car. I liked that I didn't have to "start" the car for it to start getting cool.
- adjustable ride height control is very cool. You can manually adjust it while driving or let it lower when you cruise above a certain speed. Wish we had something for the GT-R going over speed bumps.
- they are expanding the Supercharger network by adding stations in Texas (between here and Dallas, and here and Houston). Cost to "refuel" is free, as is parking it at the domain.

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks. They’ve been getting great reviews, & am seeing a few on the roads every day. Where do you get them serviced?

Hello. I had listed my 2010 black GT-R last month on eBay for $70k and change. It has 14xxxk miles on it and is pristine. I stopped the listing when I left for Europe for holiday. I will be back to austin July 9th.

Call if interested. 512-968-1670, but allow for time zones to Barcelona.

Thanks,

Charlie
