Went to my first Drivers Edge event today. Pretty interesting "Green" group. Was in there with two Lambos and Ferrari 430.  The GTR gave a good run for the money :)

Excellent! What did you think of TWS? Turns 1/2 & turn 7 are fun, eh?

Congrats on being able to play with a few exotics. Hopefully you were able to show them how a JDM car can handle its own. A F430 Scud and LP570/SL would've been a bit more challenging but the "base" models are still enjoyable to see & hear at WOT! I'm on my tiny 4" iPhone screen, but is that a 991 Turbo? How did it run?
I also heard they repaved TWS. Is that true? If so, hopefully the course is much smoother and doesn't feel like you're driving on surface streets.

I like how TWS has a couple of long stretches to help with cooling our often over-heating GTRs. Also lets you run open throttle on the front straight...think I got it up to 130 before I got scared turning into turn 1/2.  Turn 7 is a great cambered high speed turn.

Luckily no accidents on ice (was still there this morning) but did have at least two cars break down and an oil spill that brought the red group in early.

Tranny temps and brakes did pretty good today although I did get a VDC malfunction that cleared after restarting the car (think my brake fluid was running low...it is at the R level).

The 430 and black gallardo were pretty slow to be honest.  The white one actually was an SL that was pretty quick. Saw an LFA (orange) on the way back to the hotel this evening too. Was not expecting this many nice cars at TWS and College Station!

It looks like it turned into a great weekend for it. Were you on a high line, or low line into T1?

There was a black ‘14 GT-R from Houston there as well – any others?

T1/2, 5/6, 7 & “Larry, Curly & Moe” are my favorites.

Regards,

Khib

Was a beautiful weekend.  Saw 3 GTRs: 1 black DBA from Houston (name was Guy), 1 silver CBA that stripped his lugnut and didn't go out the second day, and 1 white DBA on Toyo R888s that only did the parade lap the second day.

I was on a low line coming into T1...I always feel like I'm going to fly off into the grass going into that turn (and in fact someone did this weekend and started a fire).  Managed to hit 138mph on the front straight (was too scared to go any faster).

Khib, I also met a guy in a Corvette that went to COTA and you were his instructor. Said you gave some awesome driving notes afterwards.

Overall it was really fun and I'd recommend it to anyone getting into tracking.  They also had a guy there taking photos so there were some pretty cool shots:

Tre, not sure about repaved or not since I haven't been before. There were certainly a few areas where there appeared to be fresh pavement, but that could have been there for a while. I took a quick video here if you want to see.

Jason

Looks like you had a great weekend! I really need to get a new track toy now that the GTR has been gone for a year! The GTR proved to be an extremely confidence inspiring and super enjoyable track car from my first HPDE to the final (17th) at Laguna Seca. Hopefully a replacement will be in the barn this year so I can start joining y'all.

As for the new paved sections, your vid shows that they smoothed out the "off-roading" section that made the straight between turns 6 & 7 an absolute nightmare if you took the proper line (outside). I did a motorcycle even back on Nov 30 and that section was not very pleasant at speed.
