Hi all,
I've mentioned this a few times recently for those able to attend on saturday, but I think that my work and family commitments are going to prevent me from being the consistent presence with the giant chess set on Saturdays. I'll still try and make it, but it would be a great weight off my shoulders to know someone else is involved.

The responsibilities, in whole or in part, are:
- ensuring set up of the set on Saturday, or getting volunteer coverage
- updating the facebook page from time to time
- responding to the occasional email or request to borrow the set (fairly rare anymore)
- anything else you think might help promote the activity
- helping with the October chess tournament

We're going to be hitting the high heat of summer when I think that even the tarp won't do us much good and I'd recommend switching over to the much-discussed,occasionally executed, Chess Under the Stars on a friday night. Maybe just July/August and then go back to normal. It would actually be much nicer now with the new lights on the bandstand. I can help with the reservations, etc... if there is interest.

The short version is... I'd like to see the regular presence kept and would appreciate anyone else's help in making sure that it happens.

Thanks in advance. Y'all are the best.  I really appreciate playing chess with you and getting to know you better...and it wouldn't have happened without Giant Chess.

All the best,
Michael

I've gotten down to a fairly regular schedule at work now and won't really need to work weekends anymore. Barring the occasional Houston visit every once in a blue moon I'll be out there moving forward. I would also love to start doing chess under the stars. Any chance we can reserve for the end of July? What's our permit situation look like for alcohol?

That's awesome! Thank you so much. I'll still be around, but it'd be a huge weight off my mind to know that you're looking out for it.

We can talk more soon on the specifics.  Thank you again!

Michael
