The trick here is to get a regular schedule going with sufficient
interest that includes mixers like yesterday, and also includes other
meetups that might include more specialized topics. A lot of topics
were briefly discussed yesterday (monads in F#, Scala's type system,
continuation passing style, embedded languages, concurrency with
monads), and it would be nice to have something on the calendar for a
deeper dive into some of these topics. I believe the pointer Sukant
sent out yesterday was an excellent start (thanks Sukant!). Some of
the content included is classic (even fundamental?) in FP, and with
the exception of a couple of topics (e.g. Arrows) could be accessible
to most audiences.
I propose we move the mixer to the first Saturday of the month (making
the next one 6/5). Separately, I would like to have a topic
discussion. I am open to doing these on a different day whether it is
Thursday evenings, or over a lunch and learn type session.
Thoughts?
I will send out a note proposing some papers and topics in the next
few days. Please feel free to share more if you have them.
Thanks,
Chance
