Thank you to all of you who supported our campaign against gun violence through your calls, emails and engagement - and to Governor Cuomo for his leadership on this important issue. Together we succeeded in making New York safer by keeping ALL guns out of the hands of abusers.

The new law bans domestic abusers from having rifles and long guns -- not just handguns; blocks anyone issued an arrest warrant from getting or renewing a gun license; and expands the list of crimes requiring the surrender of all firearms to include misdemeanors - not just felony charges.

This legislative win will literally save lives. Women are 5 times more likely to be killed by an abusive partner if a gun is present in the home and 3 women die a day from domestic gun violence.

We're also proud to be empowering women in the workplace. Responding to the call to help women address sexual harassment, we launched a Sexual Harassment Legal Clinic and Hotline and worked with legislators and Governor Cuomo to successfully strengthen New York’s laws in several critical ways. Most importantly, mandatory arbitration for sexual harassment and forced secret settlements are now prohibited under NY law. Check out Governor Cuomo's 2018 Women's Agenda here.

Senate Poised to Allow Concealed Guns Throughout the US

Already passed by the House, this detrimental bill will allow anyone with concealed carry permits to cross state lines. Read our op-ed which explains how the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act will affect New Yorkers. Then email Senator Schumer and urge him to pressure Senators to block it!
