BLiPSWiTCH is premiering their second evening length performance of 2017 this Wednesday! Last May we took you back to the 90's with Diet Fizz Radio, and now we are sharing the stage with some talented jazz musicians. Come out, let us pour you a drink, and enjoy some grooving to live arrangements of Miles Davis, Larry Goldings, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Mulatu Astatke, Alice Coltrane, and Austin's own Black Red Black in Shoestring.
Shoestring will bring contemporary dance together with a live instrumental jazz quartet, led by pianist Red Young, who has played and worked with artists such as Willie Nelson, Sonny & Cher, Eric Burdon, and recent Austin Music Hall of Fame inductee Ephraim Owens. Each night will feature new musicians alongside the seven dancers. The choreography will explore the complex textures of the jazz genre, while leaving moments to expand into improvisation for in-the-moment conversations between the dancers and musicians.
