About the Corridor Construction Program
Austin City Council adopted the Corridor Construction Program in April 2018. It includes improvements to nine key Austin roadways, including East Riverside Drive.
The design phase of work is underway to prepare projects for construction. The bulk of construction of the Corridor Construction Program is expected to take place 2021-24. Projects include improvements to intersections, traffic signals, sidewalks and bicycle
facilities as well as transit-supportive improvements.
Details of the proposed Corridor Construction Program, including the complete list of improvements for each of the nine corridors, is available at AustinTexas.gov/CorridorMobility.

NEW SIDEWALKS IN WINDSOR PARK NEIGHBORHOOD TO SERVE COMMUNITY AND AREA STUDENTS
|
|
|
|
Construction of sidewalks and ADA curb ramps in the
Windsor Park neighborhood
is now underway as part of the 2016 Mobility Bond Program. The project, which will serve the local community as well as the Austin Achieve School, is expected to be completed this fall.
The work is partnership between the Safe
Routes to School and the
Sidewalk
programs. The
2016 Mobility Bond
puts $37.5 million to Sidewalks and $27.5 million to Safe Routes to School projects, divided evenly among the 10 City Council Districts. Because many of the needs overlap, the City actively seeks opportunities to build needed sidewalks and pedestrian improvements
that also serve schools.
So how does this coordination take place?
Staff from the Safe Routes to School Program identified Austin Achieve as a school that needed a safer, more direct route for students to get to the school from the surrounding neighborhoods.
Staff from the Sidewalk Program also reviewed it’s “high” and “very high” priority sidewalks based on the
2016 Sidewalk Master
Plan/ADA Transition Plan Update. They found several segments that would provide further connectivity to the neighborhood and help to connect gaps in
the sidewalk network. By combining funding, the City was able to put more than $1 million toward the partnership project.

sidewalks projects here, and see what has already been built with funding from the 2016 Mobility Bond in the
