The Austin Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) is working to improve safety and mobility along portions of Hancock Drive, North Loop Boulevard and East 53rd Street from Bull Creek Road to Bruning Avenue.

Proposed improvements include protected bike lanes, pedestrian crossings and intersection safety improvements throughout the corridor, including at the intersection of Hancock Drive, Woodview Avenue and North Loop Boulevard as well as at Burnet Road and North Lamar Boulevard.

The project team wants to hear from you. Learn more about this project at AustinTexas.gov/NorthLoop. There you’ll find detailed information on the proposed project and a survey to share your feedback. The site and survey will remain open for comment through June 11, 2023.

The changes are expected to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety for trips to neighborhood destinations such as area schools, local bus stops, nearby retail and restaurant options, as well as parks, churches and corner stores. The project is also expected to improve bicycle connectivity to existing and emerging routes that offer north-south connectivity to safely access citywide destinations.

Funding for this project is available from the Bikeways and Pedestrian Crossing Programs.
