The City continues seeking the community's input to learn how they use micromobility devices like dockless e-scooters and e-bikes around Austin. Residents are invited
to fill out this survey before it closes on Sunday, July
7, 2024. Staff will analyze the data to inform future decisions about parking, safety and accessibility.
Since they were rolled out in 2018, these devices have become part of the fabric for mobility in Austin. According to data from Ride Report, people took a total of 547,400 trips on dockless e-scooters and e-bikes between January and March 2024, averaging about
one mile per trip.
In April, Austin changed its shared micromobility regulations to
address safety concerns. Those changes included setting the cap for the total number of permitted e-scooters at 6,700. This kept the maximum permitted devices the same for the two companies operating the devices: Lime and Bird.
You can learn more about shared micromobility devices at the City’s website,
and you can take the survey here.
