Feast your eyes on this beauty of a facepalm! This is at the new Tinana interchange which opened to traffic on 12 August.

Apparently TMR have ordered new signs in to replace this one. Can't wait to see the 'fixed' facepalms!

Well written article :-) Apart from the facepalm proper, I'm also less than impressed by the A1 road number. Placed like this, you're bound to oversee it. To the right of the through destination, like in NSW and elsewhere in Qld, will improve visibility. So is this a new standard in Qld or just another poor job that probably won't be rectified?

Probably the latter. To me this whole sign screams the typical "to hell with the standards" attitude from TMR. Whenever they seem to be upping their game and pulling themselves together, they go and do stuff like this. Somehow I think the A1 was just dropped into Trasicad along with the focal points and left that way. Also the huge space between SR57 and TD12 looks quite wrong to me, and I'm unsure about how I feel about Three Mile Road West being included on the sign, especially when it's in such a close vicinity to this sign.

Personally I'm actually a fan of the bordered alphas, and I wish they used them up here. I reckon something like that could possibly further improve visibility for the route numbers. And I absolutely hate the left-aligned text with a passion. Right-aligned I guess I can live with, but I'd still prefer a completely new sign. Time to whip out Trasicad.....
