Yes, the font is DIN 1451 "Mittelschrift". The 'target' symbol denotes a business district. So in the interchange sequence sign below, all three exits serve Springwood but exit 82/Fitzgerald Ave is the best exit for the CBD.

It would appear the fonts weren't the only thing they changed recently. The sign layouts on older signs are more American too, with downward pointing arrows... newer gantry signs are diagrammatic:
