They've been planning the Castlereagh Expressway for more than 50 years. I wonder when they'll start constructing it?

The Castlereagh FREEWAY NOT EXPRESSWAY was the plan for the M2 Hills Motorway and the possible Bells Line of Motorway in the County of Cumberland Plan.

Got that, but I'm talking about the Castlereagh Fwy that would connect Bells Line of Rd to the M7.

They've been planning it for decades and anything hasn't broke surface.

I don’t think it’s ever been considered feasible enough for the price. I’d rather they focus on fixing up the Richmond road /M7 interchange so that the focus can be on traffic from/to Marsden Park connecting directly to the motorway. And widening the M7 to 6 lanes

I think given the large volume of new residents to move into the area  before the end of the decade, I'd expect some movement, though not necessarily a freeway. The viability of getting over the river and up the mountain was an issue, but given all the new housing estates going in, and Richmond Rd at or beyond capacity west of Marsden Park, something will need to be done soon

The revised corridor from 2018 provided a useful way to get up to Kurrajong Heights, but the NSW Government got the spooks and back pedalled, so now we are back to the original corridor.

I didn't know there was an alternative corridor but I do remember a river crossing using a curve before it tied in with Bells Line of Rd

If anything, the government should reserve some of that land before it's too late

The reservation east of the river is already in place. Runs along the northern edge of Willmot and Lethbridge Park

The original termination point was The Driftway, but I don't believe there was a reservation there.
