The state Liberal MPs for Londonderry, Mulgoa and Penrith - Bart Bassett, Tanya Davies and Stuart Ayres - yesterday announced the contracts had been awarded for the first stage of the Werrington arterial road.
The new on- and off-ramps will create a fourth access point to the M4, reducing drivers’ need to use Mamre Rd, Mulgoa Rd and The Northern Rd.

Ms Davies said the new M4 access would help provide for the growing populations of new suburbs in Sydney’s western outskirts.
“This project is about providing the infrastructure to support those growing residential, educational business areas of the community,” she said.
Mr Ayres said even though the project was only in its early planning stages he hoped building work would begin soon.
“Our main aim is to get it on board as quickly as possible,” he said.
“That might mean we look for cost-effective methods to get the road on the ground and on the way, rather than having all of the bells and whistles to start with,” he added.
