Hi all,
As many of you are aware, the Hale St bridge is currently being
constructed. It will connect the southern end of Hale Street with
South Brisbane with a toll bridge on completion. The current Hale
Street intersection with Coronation Drive will be reconfigured
somewhat - Coronation Drive westbound will have a separate "flyover",
eastbound Coronation Drive will still have to pass through a set of
traffic lights, as will motorists using Hale Street (going in all
directions).
The pictures below show the new flyover for westbound Coronation Drive
under construction. Until temporary road deviations are established so
the flyover can be completed, we have an unusual situation where the
old road position "lines up" with the flyover, in essence forming a
bridge that goes to nowhere :-)

the Hale Street split approaches.

Westbound again, this time with the new flyover under construction
directly ahead. How traffic will be diverted when the remainder is
built will pose a challenge - there is no room to the right to move,
and the Brisbane River is directly to the left! Admittedly it could
look weird with two separate flyover ramps next to each other.

Close up from the previous pic. Sorry about the slightly wobbly hand.

Extreme close up.
Cant wait til its built. Not only will you get a good view from the
top but my morning commute to work will be a little smoother. Once the
M7 tunnel opens it will get better again!
Cheers,
Michael
