And from the good work on the B12 in SA and VIC, we move into the deplorable effort on what should be the B12 in NSW. With the recent route numbering changes, this would have been the ideal time to implement it, but nope, NSW have run with the “Balranald – Tooleybuc Road” (it rolls right off the tongue), not to mention the high count of facepalms that lie between Tooleybuc and Kyalite (refer to one of these in Pic P1310656). Seems the signs around Balranald are attempting to push all Adelaide traffic onto the Sturt Hwy and not the shorter & faster B12 route, which is pretty ordinary – at least give people the choice with one of those Adelaide (via A20 xxxx, via B12 xxx) signs.
Old sign from 2003 also included for comparison.
Cheers,
Michael
Yeah, that one's a flop! Love the NH20 they missed.

In NSW, B routes cannot have a number below 50, that's the main reason and giving it another number would be even more ridiculous.
I'm guessing their reasoning might be that the route would need alot of money spent on it upgrading the poor road surface, shoulders, etc if it was signed as a B12/ Adelaide alt route.
Not that I agree with this, as it should be B12.

The route numbering consistency only matters to RMS, not ordinary people. Also putting B400 makes it more consistent then leaving it blank.

and why the bloody hell did RMS decide to reroute Route 79. Probably one of the most sh*t things rms has done. Also what's the point of rerouting route 79 to A20, it does not do any difference but confuse Victorians. Also if they want, can't they make the 23km of highway some sort of number, then why not B790 and continue B79 to the border. Why can't RMS do SA's numbering system.

Ah yes, NH15 from Ripley to NSW border and NH39 from NSW border to Leichhardt Hwy (A5) intersection at Goondwindi. I think I only had the NH alphas on my mind when I was referring to NH system.
Also apparently heaps of new signs on Bruce Hwy between Sunshine Coast and Bundy have recently been replaced or amended with erroneous NH-A1 references

no there is still NH15 that hasn't been replaced with A15. I suppose that's one of the most shit things to not do.
