Am I reading this right?

One of the key aspects of the proposal is that it simplifies traffic movements by:

"Removing the crossover between buses and general traffic"  and

"improves connectivity for buses by extending the Sydney Harbour Bridge bus lane to York Street."

by replacing it with a signalised crossover instead (i.e. you have to take the right hand exit then turn left onto Grosvenor Street). That doesn't seem like much of a win for buses to me...

The 3D animation is worth a watch - some interesting signs are proposed (no route numbers spotted, tsk tsk)

Buses should utilise the Wynyard tunnels to the former platforms 1 & 2. Or at least a bus tunnel to York St.

I would imagine that would cost quite a bit more than ripping a few toll booths out, especially when the (toll administration?) building is in the way of the Cumberland St entrance to the tunnel, and even then there would be a sharp descent required into the existing tunnel.

Plans have been released for the Sydney underground Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, which utilise the Wynyard tunnels with a possible extension to the bus bay next to Regent St near Central station.

I remember reading in one of the PDF files from Infrastructure NSW that the reorganisation of the southern approach would be needed to construct the Sydney CBD BRT system.

Now that the government has actually committed to the light rail line through the eastern suburbs (against the advice of motor vehicle obsessed Infrastructure NSW and Nick Greiner), I can't see them going for the entire bus tunnel option as well.

So it's now four and a bit years later, and they've finally started working on removing the toll booths at the southern toll plaza. It's apparently going to take a few months to complete.

They've already installed super-fancy full colour LED gantry signage on the bridge which looks like this, except it looks to my eye that they've mangled the font pretty badly on the actual signs (I believe they've used the wrong font - FHWA Series E instead of FHWA Series E Modified). Plus the resolution isn't too crash hot either.
