That makes no sense as there won’t be any east-facing ramps at the Southern Interchange of Northconnex to/from M2.
Agreed on both counts regarding NorthConnex - if they built the southbound on-ramp to M2 the M1 designation (which they do have future provision to build) it would have made sense, but not having done that it really should be M7 as a bypass of Sydney. Having said that, if they gave up on the M2/M7 duplex already it's hard to see them re-instating it (unfortunately).

very interesting. if northconnex is to be made m1 then the m2 east of pennant hills rd will be m2/m1 until the gore hill interchange for the continuation of m1. i thought m7 would have been preferred for the northconnex

I guess the other question is: has the A11 at Pearces Corner been covered up yet? (and presuming the A3/A1 junction has new signage with "A1" on it?)

The sign looks brand new, it has ‘Pacific Highway A11 Sydney’ and ‘To M1 Motorway Newcastle’. The alpha marker has the new fluro Yellow colour.
So is A11 a new route after the opening of Northconnex which presumably will carry the M1 marker or just a simple stuff up?
Still no further A11 signage has been installed elsewhere on the route (that I have seen) and new signage recently installed at the A3/A1 intersection doesn't have any coverplates so maybe it was an error after all?--

The A11 sign is still there - uncovered.

Didn't they build stub eastbound tunnels? If the M2 shuffle really does pose a constraint or if it is overcapacity, that door is always open.
