Spotted today on Epping Road from Epping bridge eastwards are signs for extended clearways (yellow/gold plate). Presumably part of the widening that is about to occur -- but definitely not something that was on the horizon as the planning documents mention nothing about clearways there.

Nowhere does it mention on the RMS Clearways site that Epping Road is getting clearways. Notwithstanding the KGR/Roberts Rd clearway proposal has been there since 2014 and nothing else has been done.

That's a really confusing map!

I'm surprised this was necessary tbh, I have never seen cars parked on this section of Epping Rd except for the west-facing ramps at Lane Cove Road (do the Clearways apply to them?)

These sections of Epping Road should really be made no parking zones in non-clearway hours. No one ever parks on most of Epping Road even when it's legal to do so, and the ones who do decide to park there would create a dangerous situation.

The clearways do apply to those west facing ramps on Lane Cove Road from 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm.

I think it's crazy that parking is still fully legal on parts of Epping Road. As you said, no one ever seems to actually park on the main carriageway of Epping Road, so surely it would make sense for the RMS to formalise what's generally accepted by the public and make all sections of it where it's currently legal to park in non-clearway times, permanent 'no parking' zones? I can't imagine who would object to it.

A good idea for an insurance job would be to get a car or motorbike and park it right on the bridge over Terrys Creek in the middle of the night. It would probably be wiped out by a truck by morning and because you had legally parked your car there, you'd get lots and lots of money from the truck driver's insurance company.

A second clearway that is about to be installed without a RMS "full blown" consultation or notice: Babbage Rd/Boundary St, Roseville

And yet King Georges Road has been stuck in consultation mode since 12 months ago.

More clearways to be installed without consultation, which is probably good (fast installation!)

* Pennant Hills Road, staged during December
* Punchbowl Road (December)
* former SR55 route - from Parramatta Road to Old Windsor Road (James Ruse Drive, Briens Road, Old Windsor Rd) - from Nov 27

Wowwowwow!!!!

This one does have a consultation attached to it – Taren Point Road

Another clearway in the pipeline: Lyons Road. Weekday clearways, to replace “No Stopping” and “No Parking”.

They really are rolling them out!

Also found an unexpected update for the King Georges Road project, but to be built as a part of Sydney Metro for Wiley Park.

I'm not overly thrilled about a road like Lyons Road becoming a major arterial but I can't deny it's horrendous to drive down when parking is permitted, particularly that set of shops between Gipps and Hampden. This will certainly help traffic flow through.

More on the A3 King Georges Road/Roberts Road clearway which has been sorely needed but hamstrung by a few pesky businesses at Wiley Park: they're finally going to install the clearway!

(Original proposal was WD: 0600-1900, WE: 0800-1900. Updated WE: 0900-1800, consistent with clearways to the north of Roberts Road)

Windsor Rd/Church St (Baulkham Hills to North Parramatta) – 24 hrs

http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/projects/sydney-north/windsor-rd-church-st-clearway/index.html

How come the RMS can get away with this clearway without consultation, yet those King Georges Road, Warringah Road ones take ages? Depends on who will whinge and what political damage it causes?

Also Pacific Highway, Fullers Road <-> Gore Hill Freeway finally gets a short stint of exteded clearways!

Another one that just seems like a way to legally tow vehicles. I can't think of any on-street parking on this section at all.

Speaking of widening: Pacific Highway between Turramurra and Wahroonga is about to get it too - three lanes each way.

The amount of building in Sydney is incredible.

This is good news, it would help further by restricting some of the roads that feed into it to be left in / left out only as well.

Another one that just seems like a way to legally tow vehicles. I can't think of any on-street parking on this section at all.

This will be incredibly helpful. Hopefully not too much opposition to the changes. I guess this also means they'll be analysing other S-lane equipped roads.

They are absolutely correct though. Look at what Clearways do to similar shopping strips like Rozelle, Drummoyne, Gladesville, West Ryde, Parramatta Road... Question is whether the increased flow on Pittwater Rd is worth destroying Collaroy?

Drummoyne, West Ryde and Gladesville only have peak hour clearways at the moment.

I personally can't stand the "I must have the liberty to park outside the shop" mentality. King Georges Road at Wiley Park had that problem and it literally held up the rest of Sydney on a weekend and no doubts cause a fair few accidents from inattentive weekend only drivers.

I don’t even understand the “I must park in front of the shop mentality”.  However on the flip side - not having parked cars and with no nature strip/bike lane or something separating the traffic from pedestrians - it makes a road very unpleasant to walk on the footpath.  And that is also what drives people away from the shops.  No easy solution with limited space though.

This page basically now represents all of the clearways that are almost dead in the water - with feisty locals and businesses demanding the right to park in front of THEIR property or business.

That does ... nothing. It's all No Stopping anyway. It's an odd situation where between Madison St and Cleveland St on South Dowling St northbound you have both a clearway and kerbside parking at the same time (described as "indented parking bays" but actually a continuous parking lane, several hundred metres long)

Yeah, technically Southern Cross Drive and General Holmes Drive aren't freeways/motorways, so they have odd legalities which most people don't realise exist...like cyclists being allowed to ride on the actual main carriageway of the road (not the shoulder).

Of course, your average mouth breather has no idea about this...so when people get online and make snide remarks about cyclists illegally using the Airport Tunnel, they have no idea that what they are doing is perfectly legal (albeit a tad stupid).

I'm surprised this was necessary tbh, I have never seen cars parked on this section of Epping Rd except for the west-facing ramps at Lane Cove Road (do the Clearways apply to them?)
