I would think it should be at least an "A" road, if not "M"...

(see http://www.ozroads.com.au/NSW/Special/MAB/332.jpg for the evidence)

For all routes outside Sydney metro area, the A routes are only the primary movement structure.

All the suburban Newcastle routes are B routes as well so this keeps with that standard - the primary route through Wollongong is obviously the F6/Mt Ousley Rd.

What point would there be in showing the short section of this route which is on the Northern Distributor as anything other than a B route?

I should add, in case you weren't aware, that B65 will begin at the top of Bulli Tops, following Princes Hwy, Northern Distributor, Princes Hwy again and then via the current SR151 to terminate at Flinders. So, in the context of that route as a whole, what purpose would marking the Northern Distributor section as M65 or A65 serve?

I was under the impression that all remaining state routes were being converted to B routes...no?

No, the Sydney metro area routes are generally A routes.

For rural/regional areas this is generally true though.

Really the route is wrong. The real route is the north Wollongong
through-route: M1 at Bulli Tops-M1 at Gwyneville and should be an A-
route. SR151 is conceptually distinct.

Cool. I would've thought B as being obviously lower quality than "A". Perhaps it's the definition of an A and B route that I will need to readjust myself to.
