This is more specifically about the median between Macauley Avenue and the railway overpass, with the open drainage channel.

Was it constructed before, during or after the duplication? The reason why I ask is that the northbound carriageway appears to be the original alignment, with houses (with albeit shallow frontages) and direct property access, and the southbound added later. But a 1960s version of the UBD appears to have every street between Carnation Street and Daphne Avenue intersecting with Stacey Street to the east, but this is not the case at the moment (only Griffiths Avenue IIRC) - surely there would not have been multiple crossings to a drainage channel.

Also, as a side note, whilst during some research on it, there was some Hansard from NSW Parliament, with questions from MPs with respect to either covering it up or relocating it (it was a bit TLDR...)

I was very young when the duplication went in.

My dad tells me it took almost a decade to complete.

I do remember the open drainage channel being constructed, but I can't offer much else about it, but I'm somewhat certain it was related to the duplication.

There was some work going on there tonight. My hope is they cover this drainage to add a third lane in. The area from the Hume Hwy down to there is a nightmare in peak hours.

I have not driven Stacey St during peak hours but I agree that it needs to be upgraded from the railway line to north of Hume Hwy. I have seen from the Bankstown City Council website that they're pushing the RMS for an upgrade. There is plenty of room on the western side for dual carriageway and a possible overpass over Hume Hwy.

Yeah, that is a shocking section of the road. I drove past there today and it's a carpark. I hope they do an upgrade, but soon.

Surely it would be an underpass under Hume Hwy. Pretty tight on the northern side too with the water tower.

I think I read it was originally planned as an overpass in the "Roads 2000' brochure I found but no longer have.

It's back on the In planning part of the infrastructure pipeline!

(Sadly the Victoria Road, West Ryde upgrade promised in 2019 seems to have died a quiet death)

Did they ever announce where the new lights on Epping Road would be? I assume Culloden Road? None of the other intersections in Dominello's electorate would make any sense unless the Eastwood Country Road was getting built.
