It’s so much smoother than the original, both alignment and surface wise. Although I noticed there seems to be a kink on the southern end where the bridge unnecessarily curves slightly unlike the original. Other than that its great.

It’s actually been open a few times during the wet weather due to that detour being flooded over (it had no guardrail protection). Hopefully now they may get around to replacing the bridge at King John Creek, I remember reading they were given funds for this one as part of the funds directed to the Six Mile Creek structure.

It was no where near as bad as the old bridge Petrie creek rd at bli bli, that was rough as guts, better now it's replace.

Will be interesting to see what they come up with for morayfield rd southbound over the river.

Southbound over the river............the one over Caboolture River? That one was only built in 1990 so I don’t think its up for replacement anytime soon. Or do you mean Sheepstation Creek??

Cab river, rumoured to be damaged from recent floods, really should've been built higher the first time around.

Beautifully done bridge, the signage is pretty neat too, I noticed more of that style in Mt Isa on Wednesday

O.O I had no idea of that occurring! Geez, didn’t last long then. From what I can tell it was constructed as part of the Caboolture River Road to Church Street duplication in 1990; possibly explaining why it was not built higher as it was only a duplication and Queensland projects tend to stay as close to the original as possible LOL. It was also severely flooded about three months after construction Smile with tongue out. The northbound one was built in December 1995 and is exactly the same.

http://www.couriermail.com.au/questnews/moreton/new-bridge-planned-for-caboolture-river/story-fn8m0yu3-1226290819727

Planning is underway for a new bridge to connect Caboolture and
Morayfield across the Caboolture River.

The Transport and Main Roads Department (TMR) is currently undertaking
a study on options to replace the southbound Morayfield Rd bridge.

A TMR spokeswoman said a report would be provided in mid-2012 to
consider several design options including a shared footpath and
cycleway on the bridge.

Last week Councillor Greg Chippendale (Div 3) called for written
confirmation from TMR about a proposed new southbound lane of
Morayfield Rd over the river.

Cr Chippendale said the main issue was the current lack of a
pedestrian walkway.

He said the council had plans for pedestrian access and wanted to
ensure TMR would follow through with those plans.

The TMR spokeswoman said detailed design and construction could start
when funding was allocated.

``... potential traffic impacts would be managed as part of the design
phase,'' she said.

TMR would not say if there was a structural problem with the existing
bridge, but the spokeswoman did say maintenance crews regularly
monitored and assessed bridges.

They should've had a footpath originally. People walk across the current one
all the time and its dangerous.

Funny because the northbound one was only five years later and it has a
footpath. IMO it surpasses the southbound one by many leagues build-wise.
