Something that's been on my mind is the wide variety of speed limits I've encountered after getting my Ps.

And after encounting Mt. Lindsey Highway south of the Logan Mwy/M6 to Munruben, where despite it being almost completely motorway grade (except for a singular signalised intersection) it's signposted at 80;
(https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ck19aEUNBzK2RbmH8https://maps.app.goo.gl/AarVm2YNLjNcYV5N9) it's kept me thinking; what's the oddest/most bizarre speed limit you've seen/come across?

(honestly, Mt. Lindsey Hwy from Logan to Beaudesert just has odd speed limits. Mostly, 90, down to 80 in a few sections, before getting upto 100 for about 3kms before dropping to 60 as you enter Beaudesert).

I haven't been to Bribie Island in the past few years, but the last time I noticed on the way in that the speed limit seemed to be forever changing. So on the way out I counted the changes - I think it was 16 different speed limits in 14km back to the Bruce Highway.

Yeah that sounds about right. Was out there a few months ago, and the amount of speed limit changes was quite wild (admittedly, half of it was due to roadworks). But definitely a lot of speed limit changes for seemingly no reason

The Bucketts Way is 90 but all the minor side roads are 100.

More odd speed limits:
  • Endless examples of country roads with 50 speed limits that extend too far out of town
  • Wharf Rd, Newcastle which is wide, straight and with good visibility but has a 30 limit.
  • The temporary 80 limit on the Pacific Hwy through the Cudgen Tunnel, which was dark due to a recent attack by copper thieves. I can see the issue in having people drive through in the day without headlights but it's a short tunnel and you don't really need them.

Definitely agree on the Cudgen Tunnel - ya in it for like 3 seconds max, and then ya out. Ya probably got a longer distance travelling before the tunnel at 80 then the tunnel itself. Hopefully will be fixed soon.

And Buckets Way, guessin that's because it's a major road whilst the side streets aren't? But even so, a little bizarre
