What are your expectations/predictions for the pending alphanumeric rollout?
I'm presuming M1/Metroad is not one of the first, as it's one of the longest roads and to suddenly see coverplates falling off signs everywhere would be unrealistic.
I have hopes that A4/M4 will be one of the first, as it's relatively short and almost all the signage has been replaced -- much like the Metroad rollout 20 years ago when the strange hexagonal sign first appeared! :p
Your thoughts? :)
I had similar thoughts, M4, M5 & M2 to be one of the first for Sydney area. Then A3, A6, A44 & Cumberland Hwy.

I have a feeling A3 might be one of the first cabs off the rank, as most of the signs along the route are alpha-ready.
M2 would be a good candidate too.
Bring it on pleassssseeeee! J
Sorry Leo, what is the User MR3 sign? :p
thanks
Aha the Sydney Markets, South Coast sign hasn’t been replaced :p
I wonder if that decision was made by the PM who is a contractor and not a regular RMS G&D employee.
Would you say A28 also meets at that junction or do you consider the CVW interchange to be seperate?

M31, M5 and M7 all meet a one junction, at least.

I would say it doesn't really matter because people only use arterial roads in that area out of local necessity or their own stupidity.--

Not a single alpha on my normal route home, just the usual Met road and State Route Shields.
Talking about cherry pickers… I used the M4/A6 westbound exit (hey that was brief but succinct!) this evening at around 10.30 pm and noticed two utes, a cherry picker and quite a few workmen there very close to the M4 overbridge.
Unsure whether it has to do with removing cover plates or not though :p
Nothing along the length of M1 from General Holmes Drive to Falcon St either. In fact, plenty of signs not alpha ready!
None on A8 either L
One other question:
Whilst browsing OzRoads just then, I noticed the Hume Highway at Tarcutta is signed as the Hume Motorway.
http://ozroads.com.au/NSW/Special/MAB/452.jpg
Doesn’t the Hume Motorway end at Berrima? :p

Even the RMS is still using F3 Motorway in their iPhone app.
Sent from my iPhone
Any photos of that stuff up?
I travelled the M7 and nothing's been done there either, no coverplates removed yet.
Spotted something very unusual today. At the Sheepwash Road/Illawarra Highway crossroads, B73 stickers have been placed on the exsisting signs, for the signs pointing towards Bowral SR80 is covered by B73 while the signs pointing towards Fitzroy Falls/Nowra, a smaller sticker has been placed beside the Nowra name *facepalm* Corner-cutting and cost-cutting is all I can think of behind that decision.

On the other hand, is Route 23 the only one to have all three types of road allocated?
M23 – Federal Highway
A23 – bypass
B23 – Monaro Highway
Can’t think of another route number that takes on all 3!

Here is some quick shots I took of the new B73 route markers on the return trip. I also noticed that at the Nowra Road intersection, the SR79 markers have been coverplated, but only at that intersection, not anywhere else alone the NR48/SR79 duplex. You will also notice on the second photo there is no B73 marker on the Nowra fingerboard, the only sign that hasn't had a route number stuck onto it.

All the patches look out of whack.

Are those reflective stickers? What a shocking job. They'll probably fade and fall off after a few years. Hopefully they won't be doing this on the major routes.

http://www.ozroads.com.au/NSW/RouteNumbering/alpha/73/008_pryke_2013_03.jpg there is a very similar sign heading into Mount Barker SA from the M1 with a B37 between the words Mount Barker and the distance.
That link is for the Bat an Highway Sam
I meant to say Batman also, the link at the back of the NSW B73 page to go back says WA and points to a broken NSW link.
