I recently found some nice videos on YouTube taken on a drive around Warilla, Warrawong, Port Kembla, Wollongong and Kiama from 1986/7. The Kiama video is available here:

They all seem to be an interesting watch. The videos don't have absolutely everything I'm looking for, but they're still an awesome capture and a good memory trip for anyone who remembers the area this way. All credit to Wayne Rowles for the uploads.

Cheers,
Vincent

Nice :)
The good ole double yellows. Only a year after they started to get phased out :(

It looks like the author has uploaded another, this one from Albion Park Rail to Shellharbour Square: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEIMXZuqENc

This would have to be my favorite one yet. Awesome footage of Old Lake Entrance Road here.

The video is dated 1986, but I think it might be a bit older than that? There are no traffic lights at the turnoff to Oak Flats, there's no roundabout at the bottom of Central Avenue, and I can also see no evidence that the New Lake Entrance Road bypass was being built. I also didn't realise the Princes Highway was 2 lanes south of Tongarra Road - it would make sense, but I only ever remember it as 4 lanes. Does anyone have a date as to when it was duplicated?

Cheers,
Vincent

The Tongarra Road lights were installed in December 1984, so its definitely after that. The dual carriageways south of there I believe were done in November 1988 (can't believe how different it looks here!).

Not sure when the Pioneer Drive lights went in, but I always assumed they were put in with the dual carriageways and could never find anything about them to say otherwise; they're certainly not on the official signal register.

The Central Avenue roundabout appears to have been put in during 1990 according to aerial imagery.
