Following from my last post:

A7 is most definetly signposted north of Charters Towers – see attached.

About 40km north of Greenvale, the DMR zone (it appears) changes from Townsville to Cairns – all the signage within the Townsville region has been shown as A7 and is all new and replaced. The signs with coverplates at The Lynd are out of step with those further south – the Cairns district probably hasn’t got around to doing it properly. Ideally the A7 would continue up to meet NR1 (possibly a future A9 route).

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks very much MG - this is pretty recent by the look of the signs (and as GSV still shows comprehensive SR63 signage). Another change made in QLD without telling anyone!

Note the facepalm on the Flinders Hwy AD sign - A7 should of course be duplexed with A6 through Charters Towers to the southern Gregory Dev Rd junction.

Hi Sam,

Photos from May last year.

Re: facepalm.

Wow, youre picky! *grin* I guess seeing facepalms in QLD are simply
par for the course when you drive around. The errors that you have
spotted with the many WA roads and route numbering are minor in
comparison!

Duplexes are so hit and miss in QLD - most arent signposted right.
Some are - on most occasions the duplex with be signposted correctly
at one intersection and wrong at the next etc etc. Rarely is a whole
route signposted correctly and for the longer routes, the standard of
signage changes as soon as a DMR district is crossed. There are so
many variables that make up the QLD Facepalm that you just dont know
where to start. These days if at least 80% of the sign is right (like
the sign you mentioned above), then we have a winner in QLD.

Cheers,
Michael

Wow, those RD signs actually look rather good.

Hi Michael,

Quite a number of fairly decent looking signs there. Some duds and the 2 dodgy coverplate jobs are horrendous.

OK so I enquired with TMR as to whether A7 was extended to The Lynd, when this happened, and whether they were going to signpost the A6/A7 duplex properly.

Their response was that the A7 route markers had been installed in error and that they will be coverplated with SR63 shields by the end of the FY.

All I have to say is lol...

At least they plan to fix it. I guess someone wasn't too clear with their instructions when A7 was implemented.

LOL

Thanks Sam - although sadly in a way its a backward step.

A lot of coverplates will be needed, particularly through Charters
Towers! Ch-ching ($).

Cheers,
Michael
