RuPaul’s Drag Race stars from all over the world have showered their Sydney sister Maxi Shield with love and support following her cancer diagnosis.

Maxi appeared on Drag Race Down Under‘s first season and suffered “very scary” health issues while performing overseas a fortnight ago. The beloved Sydney drag icon shared on Tuesday she’s undergoing cancer treatment.

This weekend Drag Race production company World of Wonder shared a heartfelt post to Instagram sending Maxi their love and support. World of Wonder also encouraged fans to donate to a GoFundMe set up by drag queen Jacqui St Hyde.

The crowdfunding campaign has raised over $36,000 to support Maxi as she prepares to start several weeks of chemotherapy.

As well as her Aussie sisters, numerous queens from the RuPaul’s Drag Race universe have also sent their love to Maxi online.

Michelle Visage wrote on Instagram, “My darling I’m sending you so much love and healing light… you are so special.”

“Much love sis, you got this,” Scarlet Envy wrote, while UK queen Blu Hydrangea wrote, “With all my heart I love her.”

Drag Race Down Under sister Kita Mean wrote, “We love you Fanny! A true mother, sister, leader of our community. You’ve got this bitch.”

Maxi Shield begins ‘rocky’ round of chemo this week

Last month, Maxi Shield was rushed to hospital while on tour in Scotland.

“I’ve had an issue with a swollen gland that was pushing on blood vessels in my throat,” she said at the time.

Maxi confirmed that tests later revealed “this little swollen thing on the side of my throat is cancer” with a “70-80% treatment rate.”

In an update this weekend, the performer said on Monday she’ll begin ten weeks of chemotherapy to shrink and hopefully eliminate the tumour.

“It’s supposed to be rocky. There might be side effects. I’m trying to decide whether or not to keep my eyebrows. I’m not sure,” Maxi said.

“I love every one of you. Your love and your support is really helping me through.”
