Dear friend of Twenty10,
Things are changing rapidly for our communities locally and internationally, and we know that it can be overwhelming and scary. But as we’ve learned through our histories, our best tool is collective community resilience, support, and connectedness.
Over the past month we’ve been increasing our advocacy with local council and government to continue supporting the needs of our LGBTIQA+ communities, and advocating for the rights of trans and gender diverse people. We are immensely proud to have contributed to the tireless campaign that led to the landmark ban of conversion therapy with the passing of the Conversion Practices Ban Act 2024.
For anyone looking to improve their knowledge in supporting and working with gender diverse people, our Community Learning session next TUES 29 APRIL focuses on the common intersection of Neurodivergence and Gender Diversity and increasing your confidence working with neurodivergent gender diverse people.
Together our communities and allies can continue to create change - and we’re committed to walking alongside you towards a better future for our young LGBTIQA+ people.

Celebrating Peter De Waal - LGBTIQA+ Icon |
|
| This month we celebrated the launch of Peter De Waal's memoir, 'It Wasn't Dutch Courage', a testament to the journey that he and many other LGBTIQA+ Elders have taken to advocate for LGBTIQA+ rights.
His contributions to our communities as one of the co-founders (alongside his lifelong partner, Peter "Bon" Bonsall-Boone) of the Campaign Against Moral Persecution (CAMP NSW) organisation and 'Phone-A-Friend' (later known as GLCS NSW) forms an important part of Twenty10's history and we are continually grateful for his work and enduring legacy through the work we do today. |

Twenty10 Social Support Groups |
|
We’ve also been working hard to improve our reach and capacity to support young LGBTIQA+ people across different areas of Sydney, and ensure that as many young people as possible can access safe and affirming spaces.
We're extremely excited to announce that we’ve taken on GLAM, a social support group with an extensive history of over 20 years, and has been a central part of the Northern Beaches LGBTIQA+ community for so many young folks across the years.
We’re proud to continue the amazing work that parents, the Northern Beaches Council, and community have done to provide important support to young people who deserve a safer space to be themselves. A huge thank you to Sydney North Health Network for funding this program and making this important service possible. |

Gentle Reminder About Voting on SAT 3 MAY |
|
| Voting for this year’s Federal Election is happening on SAT 3 MAY 2025. However you decide to vote, or even if you decide not to vote at all, here’s a gentle reminder that as voting is compulsory, you may incur a $55 fine in NSW for not voting.
If you anticipate not being able to attend voting on the day, early voting is available from TUES 22 APRIL 2025.
If you require alternative ways of voting, including information on early voting locations, postal or telephone voting, or interstate and overseas voting, head to the NSW Electoral Commission website. |

Check out the Equality Australia Rainbow Votes Report and key statements from the Rainbow Votes Election Forum participants for information on key issues for LGBTIQ+ communities.
For trans and gender diverse folks, voting at the election may require you to use your legal name, which you no longer use, in public, which can be a difficult and triggering experience.
If you require additional support, QLife remains open every day from 3PM-12AM. Reach free anonymous peer support via phone (1800 184 527) or webchat (qlife.org.au/resources/chat). |
