  • Locations: This role is open to people based in Sydney or Melbourne.
  • Role is full time, fixed term contract until 30/06/2027 (also open to considering part-time 0.8 FTE)
  • Competitive remuneration on SCHADS Award Level 6, $111,592 including leave loading (excluding superannuation and NFP salary sacrifice)

About Us

LGBTIQ+ Health Australia (LHA) is the national peak health organisation in Australia for organisations and individuals that provide health-related programs, services and research focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people and other sexuality, gender, and bodily diverse people and communities.

LHA works with legislators, policymakers, and service providers to help them understand and address the needs of LGBTIQ+ people and communities. We support LHA members to have a stronger policy voice and partner with researchers across the country on issues of LGBTIQ+ health and wellbeing.

About The Role

As the Project Lead you will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of LHA’s Government funded Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (Individual Capacity Building) grant. The project will provide an innovative program of activities for LGBTIQ+ people with disability that fosters social connection and strengthens existing knowledge, skills and confidence to understand and exercise rights, navigate services and participate in the community. The project will also build the capacity of families and carers in supporting LGBTIQ+ people with disability to exercise their rights and enhance community autonomy by developing local linkages.

All staff are required to ensure that within their role and delivery of their work, they consider and incorporate the needs of LGBTIQ+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, Brother Boys and Sister Girls.

What you will do

The primary focus of the Project Lead role is to lead the contract, administrative and project management aspects of the project. The community-facing delivery organisation for this project is Inclusive Rainbow Voices (IRV). The position fulfils support, facilitation and project management functions in support of IRV who are the main community-facing project delivery organisation. The role may assume tasks associated with other projects within LHA.

What are we looking for

  • Living experience of disability is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in project management in the health, disability and/or LGBTIQ+ sectors.
  • Understanding of and commitment to health, wellbeing and human rights of LGBTIQ+ people and communities including the social determinants of health.
  • Demonstrated skills in leading partnerships with sector peaks and organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the co-design, delivery and evaluation of training and capacity building programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the disability sector and the current reform landscape.
  • Understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of LGBTIQ+ people with disability.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Planner, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
