VincentCare Victoria is an award-winning organisation established to provide a range of accommodation and support services to people that are facing disadvantage throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria.
Our aspiration is to be the leader in providing care, hope and advocacy for those facing disadvantage. Our purpose is to create opportunities and lasting change for the most marginalised. VincentCare is well equipped to provide a continuum of services that effectively meet the needs of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
You will be responsible for performing complex operational tasks as well as planning and coordinating activities within a clearly defined area of the organisation.
This role requires the application of specialised knowledge, skills, and professional judgement in carrying out key functions relevant to the Pride in Place LGBTQIA+ Initial Assessment and Planning Worker.
The LGBTQIA+ Initial Assessment and Planning Worker offers crisis accommodation support, housing information, and referral assistance to individuals, couples, and families from the LGBTQIA+ community who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.
Working with a diverse range of clients who have varying support needs and life experiences, this role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, providing tailored information, and facilitating referrals to suitable internal and external services — including those offered by Pride in Place partner organisations.
As a key entry point into the homelessness service system, this position is often the first point of contact for clients. Therefore, it demands strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when supporting people experiencing trauma or housing crises. Workers must respond with flexibility and sensitivity, delivering person-centred and innovative support within the limitations of the homelessness service system.
Pride in Place workers enhance this model by engaging with LGBTQIA+ clients in the places they feel safest — whether through outreach, in their current accommodation, or within trusted community service settings.
This role is ideal for individuals who excel in a client-centred, solutions-focused environment, and who are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
