Equality Australia’s team of 14 FTE staff/contractors has a shared commitment to creating a fair and inclusive Australia for LGBTIQ+ people, their families, and their communities. Our mission is to create and protect positive legal and social change to ensure LGBTIQ+ people are treated equally and with dignity and respect.

Our strategic plan (2023 to 2026) outlines our strategic objectives and initiatives including transforming laws, policies and practices through legal and policy research and strategic legal action. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, flexible and agile team where you will make a real impact on the lives of LGBTIQ+ people.

OUR CULTURE AND COMMITMENTS

Equality Australia offers a professional, supportive, and friendly environment, with regular clinical supervision and well-being initiatives and general annual leave entitlements (5 weeks per year). Our Sydney Office is located within a dedicated non-profit hub, thoughtfully designed to ensure your comfort, with regular community events and networking opportunities.

Our diverse team strives to meet our organisational values and to work with others who share them:

  • Pride: We are proud of the LGBTIQ+ movement in Australia, and we honour the leaders that have come before us. We celebrate and recognise the achievements, strength, and resilience of LGBTIQ+ people, and their contribution to social, political, economic, and cultural life.
  • Integrity: We are strong in our conviction that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We are open to learning better ways to work together and we collaborate in accordance with our values.
  • Courage: We lead by example. We speak out and speak up. We stand for justice and do what is right.
  • Care: We act with care for each other, and the wider community. We treat people with the same dignity and respect that we seek from others. We listen, empathise and respect difference.
  • Strategic: We carefully consider how we use our resources for the benefit of the LGBTIQ+ community, focussing our efforts where they are most needed and taking action together to ensure we have the maximum positive impact on the lives of LGBTIQ+ people.
