| Big changes are coming for anyone in Australia under the age of 16.
From December 10, major social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok Facebook, and Reddit will no longer be accessible.
That’s a huge shift. And it’s completely normal for the young people in your life to feel stressed or worried about what comes next. For many, many LGBTQIA+ people, online spaces are a vital way that we connect with our community and friends, find support, and how we discover queer joy.
In fact, 86% of the LGBTQIA+ young people we asked about the ban earlier this year shared that it would leave them disconnected.
So we’re making sure to keep creating spaces – in person and online – where queer young people around the country can connect with each other, feel supported, and have fun, safely. |

| | 1. With the Minus18 Youth Discord
We’ve spent the last year creating a thriving, fun, and safe youth community on Discord. This is going to be one of our most important, impactful spaces after Dec 10, with Discord not part of the ban.
As such, we’ve opened our fortnightly youth-safe hang outs to all queer young people aged 13 to 19, all over Australia.

2. The Minus18 Youth Newsletter
Did you know that we have a dedicated youth newsletter? And that 75% of young people told us they prefer to receive news from organisations via email?
Young people can sign up to receive the latest about events, Discord themed hang outs, as well as our regular messages of pride and affirmation.
