Psychologist / Clinical Psychologist / Mental Health Social Worker

Unison Mental Health

Job description

about the opportunity

Unison Mental Health is seeking an AHPRA-registered Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, or AASW-accredited Mental Health Social Worker to join our small, collaborative team of diverse therapists.

As a registered clinician, you’ll have the opportunity to work with clients referred through GPs, Open Arms, NDIS, DVA, and private pathways. We take pride in providing a therapeutic space that welcomes people from all cultures, backgrounds, and identities. Our practice is grounded in compassion, respect, and a harm-reduction approach, supporting each person’s autonomy and lived experience.

On any given day, you can expect to work with individuals who are LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, gender-diverse, polyamorous/non-monogamous, or from culturally diverse communities. Our team values both professional expertise and lived experience, and we encourage authentic, human-to-human connection in every session.

This is a flexible independent contractor role (ABN required), offering approximately 16–20 hours per week, with the option to work from home or from our Prahran office. You’ll receive administrative support from our dedicated admin team, access to monthly group supervision, and our shared library of therapeutic resources.

We value collaboration and encourage our team to share insights, support one another, and draw on the wisdom of our diverse backgrounds as practitioners.

Contractors enjoy clinical autonomy in their therapeutic work, with the option of full administrative and scheduling support within a collaborative, inclusive environment. We offer a generous session percentage, along with incentives for long-term collaboration.

What we’re looking for:

  • A team player - we are a collaborative team and support each other to get the best outcome for the client.
  • A relational, person-centred therapist who can adapt to client needs
  • Full AHPRA registration (or relevant professional registration) and Public Liability Insurance
  • A strong interest in supporting LGBTQIA+ clients
  • Experience working with PTSD and complex mental health presentations
  • Eligibility for, or current registration as, a Medicare provider (preferred)

The successful candidate will also:

  • Have reliable internet, phone, and computer access for Telehealth, or be able to travel to our Prahran office for in-person sessions
  • Hold an active ABN and be able to pass an AFP police check
  • Have an interest or experience in one or more of the following areas: Defence, harm reduction, diverse communities, or relationship therapy

If you’re passionate about supporting people on their mental health journey and would like to join a fun, inclusive, and values-driven team, we’d love to hear from you. www.unisonmentalhealth.com.
