As some of you would be aware, we discussed how we can provide
connections and communicaiton opportunities for groups locally
(through face to face interaction), nationally and internationally
(through interaction in the virtual space) a while back. The challenge
is now being discussed again spawning from an act km discussion
thread.
As has also been mentioned, we design, foster and faciliatate a
variety of networks in our professional and personal time, yet why is
the lawnmowers backyard is usually unmaintained?
Let's put our combined knowledge [insert own definition here] of
communities of practice together and work out how we can provide the
various events, forums, repositories and anythign else that's needed,
in place in a coordinated and complementary way.
Opportunity 1 : Local Network Events
Face to face opportunities coordinated through various tools (event
management, social network, shared calendar, email list). Managed by
local leaders whilst communicating with other groups (e.g. km groups
in other regions and related field local groups [e.g. Librarian
group]). Share experiences
Opportunity 2 : National / International Network Forum
In order to conquer time and space (like all aspiring KM practitioners
dream of) it makes sense to deliver a national online forum that can
utilise greater economies of scale and access to a larger audience for
interaction and communication.
Opportunity 3 : National Face 2 Face Forum
An annual conference/forum by practitioners, for practitioners
(currently defaulting to the act KM annual conference).
What do others think?
Cory
I have invited Arthur (Melb), James Grey (Perth) & Ian Fry (Adelaide)
to the list.
My preference is to build on what currently exists - so regarding 3.
I'd like to know what we can do with the actKM conference to link it
to the local groups without diminishing it as an event in its own
right.
I'm not sure about 2. I think that KM practitioners have more than
enough online forums already! I suspect Stan Garfield's visit here in
July will plug us into what's going on in the US.
Cheers,
Matt

It also has a combined AU-KM feed (public 'feeds' only), which through
feedburner can also be subscribed via email.
This page could do with an update and is, unfortunately, hard to find
unless you know what you are looking for.
BTW The WSG model could be a good model to follow for creating a more
cohesive Web presence for the AU-KM community http://webstandardsgroup.org/
