With the release of Firefox 52 the ATO are saying AUSkey will no longer be supported natively through Firefox and we will have to install an add-on (only for Windows users). How will Linux users access AUSkey after 7th March, 2017? Should we try and get google-chrome or chromium working? Is there another browser which will work with the AUSkey? Should I just keep using an old version of Firefox?

Here is the firefox plugin which is for windows only. I've opened it up and looked around I cannot see what makes this Windows only. It's under the MIT license so maybe this plugin could be modified to work for Linux users.

Does anyone know how many of us use Linux + AUSkey to interact with the ATO?

It would be nice to put some pressure on them to continue supporting FF + Linux

If they do withdraw this, I'll seriously consider going back to paper submissions (Yuk!).  We certainly won't be letting Windoze within cooee of our financial info!

I use it every month

You should also know that there are ATO employees on this list who have been very supportive of ensuring that this works under Linux.

I'm a little snowed under at the moment, so I'm unsure what investigations I can commit to, but I'll add this to my pile.

Hopefully there will be a few able to have a look.

I just tried the XPI in Firefox 52 and got this error:

```
An error has occurred with a result code of 4305.
Extension failed to load supporting software [Error: couldn't open
library /home/jayen/AUSkey/libabrakmbe.so:
/home/jayen/AUSkey/libabrakmbe.so: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory]
```

This would lead me to believe that someone is making a libabrakmbe.so
for linux. I only hope they release a 32-bit version for those of us
that haven't reinstalled [debian] linux in 20 years...

I use Firefox + Linux many times every day to access ATO portals.  Its part of my work.
Very unhappy that FF is about to stop working with ATO.
How come FF can work perfectly with most every other website in the world ?
Very unhappy about ATO general system outages since early December.
Nobuddy understands how or why ATO became convinced to use a java app for "security".
java = just another vulnerable appliance
Time for ATO to get its act together, and fix up their mess.
/end of rant.

I would be curious to know why they chose to write a Java/browser
plugin in the first place? Why not SSL client certificates or
something like FreeOTP?
