I have been advised that the release is due this Thursday evening. Linux support will be available then or shortly after. Pay attention, because if you're running Linux, this change will affect you.
Firefox and Chrome will be supported on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Other, not formally supported but minimally tested browsers, are Chromium, Vivaldi, and Opera. New installers will be available for each OS platform. The Installers install AUSkey and the extension into any currently installed aforementioned browser.
The Linux Installer is a shell script and will be unlisted initially. It will available via direct link when finalised. It should be considered an early release requiring feedback. The latest SUSE and Ubuntu distros have been tested.
Existing Chrome installations on Windows and Mac have been tested and are expected to continue to work with the new extension which will be propagated through the Chrome Store update mechanism.
However, the current Firefox extension will cease to work and will be removed from the Store (the new extension will be unlisted). This will require using the new Installers for Windows and Mac which will become available from the AUSkey website.
Legacy support for IE continues using the existing Java Plugin mechanism.
Given it affects the login portal itself and all client platforms except legacy IE, the more that are aware, the better. It is a large change with some potential for rollback if there are significant issues.
Please note that I'm not the developer of this code, nor have I seen it or used it.
