2012 Australian Junior Chess Championships
Australia's most important junior tournament looks likely to be the
biggest and best in history and early-bird entries close soon (early
bird closes 1 Nov). Tournament includes a lightning championship
and problem solving championship. For competition details:

Dates: December 7-11
Format:10 player, 9 rounds round-robin tournaments
Venue: Adelaide Chess Centre, 10 Ranleagh Street. Adelaide
(In central Adelaide, 10 minutes walk from Chinatown)
Round times: 9.30 and 14.30 daily
Time limit: 40/90 plus 30 second increment from move 1
Prizes: $250, $150, $100 in each group (Minimum - prizes may
be adjusted upwards or extended beyond 3rd)

Australian Schools Teams Championships
The Australian Schools Teams Championships details are as follows:
Dates: December 3 and 4.
Venue: Knox Grammar School in Sydney's north, address 7
Woodville Avenue
Wahroonga.
We wish each school good luck in qualifying to represent their
State.
Romanas Arlauskas Award
The Arlauskas Medal is to be awarded to the Australian (U16) player
who has made the greatest impact, not necessarily the highest-rated.
The winner will receive a single grant by the Australian Chess
Federation (ACF) to assist with costs related to his or her
participation in a significant international or Australian chess
event.
The medal will be presented during the Australian Championships in
Geelong.
